Roof Waterproofing

Waterproofing is not a product, it is a system: the right preparation, the right membrane and the right coating for each part of your roof — done before the leak, not after it.

Every roof has places where water wants in: flat sections that pond, valleys that channel storm water, ridge caps, parapet walls, flashings and box gutters. ER Roof Restorations waterproofs these properly for homes, complexes and industrial buildings across Pretoria and Gauteng — with membrane and coating systems matched to each surface, not one bucket for everything.

Quick facts

  • Flat roofs, valleys, ridge caps, parapets, flashings and box gutters
  • Torch-on membrane, acrylic and fibre-reinforced liquid systems — matched to the surface
  • Residential, commercial, body corporate and industrial work
  • Qualifying workmanship carries a written 10-year guarantee

Waterproof paint, membrane or torch-on — which does my roof need?

It depends on the surface and how water behaves on it. Flat concrete roofs that hold water need a full membrane system; tiled-roof valleys and ridges usually need targeted sealing with reinforced liquid waterproofing; metal roofs need rust treatment before any coating will hold. “Waterproofing paint” from a hardware store fails when it is asked to do a membrane’s job — that is the repair call we get most often. Our inspection tells you which system your roof actually needs, in writing.

How long does roof waterproofing last?

A correctly installed system on a properly prepared surface lasts many years — which is why qualifying ER workmanship carries a written 10-year guarantee. The failures you see after one summer are almost always preparation failures: coatings over dust, membranes over active rust, or junctions left unsealed.

When is the best time to waterproof in Gauteng?

Before the storms. Highveld thunderstorms run roughly October to March, and every year they find the roofs that were “going to be done this year”. Winter and early spring are ideal: dry surfaces, proper curing, and your roof is sealed before the first big downpour tests it.

Frequently asked questions

Do you waterproof flat roofs on commercial buildings?

Yes. ER handles flat-roof waterproofing for commercial and industrial buildings across Gauteng, including large membrane installations, and provides the itemised scopes property managers and body corporates need.

Can you waterproof over an old failed coating?

Usually the failed layer must come off first — waterproofing over a delaminating coating just fails with it. We strip or treat the old surface, repair what is underneath, and then install the new system so the guarantee means something.

My walls are damp, not my roof — can you help?

Yes — that is damp proofing, a separate ER service. Rising and penetrating damp in walls needs its own treatment; see our damp proofing page or WhatsApp us a photo and we will point you right.

Do you give free waterproofing quotations in Pretoria?

Yes. We inspect on site across Pretoria and Centurion, measure the affected areas, and send a written, itemised quotation — no obligation.
